WEBINAR ON QUANTITATIVE NURSING RESEARCH

The two days webinar on ‘quantitative nursing research’ was held between 26 and 27 May 2023 through Microsoft Teams Online Platform. This was organized by the first-year students of the Nurse Practitioner in Critical Care (NPCC) Postgraduate Residency Program, Medical-Surgical Nursing department, in collaboration with Pillar 2 (IoE): Exemplary 188体育平台 and Innovation of 188体育平台 College of Nursing (MCON), MAHE, 188体育平台.

The webinar began with the welcome address by the NPCC student, Ms. Bhanu, followed by the inaugural address by Dr.Tessy Treesa Jose, Associate Dean, MCON, MAHE highlighting on the need for research.

Eleven topics in the area of quantitative nursing research were deliberated during the two days of the webinar (9 am-4 pm). The forenoon of the first day started with the session on ‘188体育平台 Process and Writing 188体育平台 Proposal’ followed by ‘Conceptual Framework’ and ‘Quantitative 188体育平台 Design’s which were deliberated by Dr. Shashidhara Y N, Professor & Head, Department of Community Health Nursing, Dr. Baby S Nayak, Professor & Head, Department of Child Health Nursing and Dr. Melita Sheilini, Asst.Professor-selection grade, department of Medical-Surgical Nursing, MCON, MAHE, 188体育平台 respectively. In the afternoon, the topic of ‘Literature Search’ was dealt by Mr.N Siva, Ph.D. Scholar followed by ‘Data collection instruments-Validity and Reliability’ by Dr.Radhika R Pai, Assistant Professor, Department of Fundamentals of Nursing, MCON, MAHE, 188体育平台.

The second day of the webinar commenced with the session on ‘Data Collection Techniques and Methods’ by Dr. Sonia R B D’souza, Professor & Head, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecological Nursing, MCON followed by the session on ‘Sample size estimation’ by Dr. Ravishankar N. Assistant Professor, Department of Biostatistics, Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute, University of Delhi. The forenoon sessions continued with the deliberations on the topics ‘Sampling’ and ‘Analysis and Interpretation of data’ by Dr. Soumya Christabel, Asst. Professor-Senior scale, department of Medical-Surgical Nursing and Dr. Sushmitha R Karkada, Asst.Professor-senior scale, department of Obstetrics & Gynecological Nursing MCON, MAHE, 188体育平台 respectively. Post-lunch sessions began with the deliberation on ‘Ethics in 188体育平台 and CTRI registration process’ by Mr.Anil Raj, Asst. Professor, Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing, followed by the session on ‘Writing for publication and communicating research findings’ which was dealt by Dr.Binu Margaret,?Assistant Professor-Selection Grade, Department of Child Health Nursing, MCON, MAHE, 188体育平台.

A total of 94 participants (88 Non-MAHE and 6 MAHE) attended the webinar from 10 states namely Karnataka, Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Sikkim, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Kerala. The webinar was well appreciated by the participants. The sessions of the two days webinar were moderated by Ms. Shwetha, Ms. Bhanu Priya Mahato, and Mr.Kallesh the student organizers of the first-year NPCC program.

The webinar concluded with the closing remarks by Dr. Baby S Nayak, Professor & 188体育平台 Pillar Head, MCON, MAHE, 188体育平台 at 4 pm on 27.05.2023 followed by the words of gratitude expressed by the student convenor. Overall, the webinar was coordinated by Dr. Melita Sheilini, Asst.
